AUSTIN, TX – Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatality collision along Highway 290 in East Austin Friday morning, reports KXAN.
The incident happened at 6:16 a.m. between Tuscany Way and Springdale Road, which is east of US-183 and west of the Big Walnut Creek Nature Preserve.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police say that multiple vehicles were likely involved and that one person died at the scene of the collision. At least one other person went to the hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim. That information is forthcoming.
Officials encouraged motorists to avoid the area and expect heavy delays along US-290 while crews worked at the scene.
