AUSTIN, TX – One person sustained critical injuries Wednesday morning after a vehicle struck them along a busy South Austin roadway, reports ATCEMS.

The incident occurred around 5:57 a.m. on South Congress Avenue near the intersection with Olguin Street. This is south of East William Cannon Drive and West of I-35.
It’s not yet known if the pedestrian was walking in a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Medics performed resuscitation measures at the scene before transporting the victim to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with critical injuries.
Authorities haven’t yet clarified whether the driver involved in the accident remained at the scene to render aid and speak to police.
