KILLEEN, TX – Two people were hurt Saturday in a wrong-way collision along the interstate in central Killeen, reports the Killeen Daily Herald.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. on I-14 near Jasper Road, which is just northwest of Killeen Mall.
Police say the driver of an eastbound Pontiac sedan was likely drunk when she entered the westbound side of I-14 and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota sedan. The Pontiac ignited upon impact.
Medics transported the driver and passenger from the Toyota to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Both victims are expected to recover.
Bystanders worked to extricate the 48-year-old driver of the Pontiac. Authorities then arrested her on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
A full investigation is underway.
