BURELSON COUNTY, TX – One person died Tuesday afternoon in southwest Burleson County when a vehicle struck them along the highway, reports KBTX 3.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on the northbound side of TX-36 just north of Lyons. This is about 90 miles east of Austin.
Police say the victim was walking on the northbound shoulder of the highway when they were hit.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the pickup truck swerved onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver.
The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identity to the public.
The driver of the pickup truck will not face charges. It’s unclear if the wrong-way driver was detained.
The investigation is ongoing.
