AUSTIN, TX – A weekend collision near the Circuit of the Americas resulted in multiple injuries Sunday night, reports CBS Austin.

The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Elroy Road and Jacobson Road on the south side of Del Valle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police say that multiple vehicles were involved; the manner in which they impacted is still unknown.

Medics transported two adults and one child to area hospitals. One adult was listed in critical condition while the other two patients sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Motorists likely faced delays at the northeast end of COTA while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
