AUSTIN, TX – Emergency teams responded to a fatality accident involving an Austin Fire Department vehicle near the airport Wednesday.
According to Fox 7 Austin, the collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on the eastbound service road for TX-71 at Presidential Boulevard. This is just northeast of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and south of Hornsby Bend.
Police haven’t shared many details about the wreck. They say that a passenger vehicle and an Austin Fire Department vehicle collided. There’s no word yet regarding the cause of the crash.
Medics transported two people from the accident to an area hospital with serious injuries. One of the victims died after transport.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name to the public.
A full investigation is underway.
