AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Police Department has released information on a fatal car accident that occurred in North Austin on May 8th. According to the report, a 2008 white Hino van and a 2004 GMC SUV were driving parallel to one another in the southbound lanes of Metric Boulevard. The two vehicles collided, pushing the van into northbound lanes. The van then collided with an oncoming red 2012 Mitsubishi Galant.
James Henry Omary, a passenger in the Galant, was severely injured in the collision and was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. He later died from his injuries. Four other people in the Galant were also injured in the crash. The drivers of both the Hino and the SUV were uninjured.
Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit is currently investigation the accident. Anyone with information on the crash should contact the unit at (512) 974-8544.
