AUSTIN, TX – In an update to a previous report, the Austin Police Department has identified the pedestrian that was killed on IH-35 on Friday as 35-year-old Dawon Jermaine Davis.
A City of Austin press release stated that a silver 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis hit Davis at approximately 2:35 a.m. on May 15. Davis was crossing from a center median to the west side of the highway at the 12200 block of southbound Interstate 35 when the accident occurred.
After the accident, the driver in the Mercury pulled off the road and then called the police. The driver cooperated with the police investigation into the accident. Officers do not believe the driver was speeding or intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Davis sustained significant injuries from the crash. Paramedics from the Austin Fire Department and the Austin-Travis County EMS attempted to provide life-saving measures on the scene. However, Davis died from his injuries at 3:05 a.m.
