AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian died after being struck by the vehicle of a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Thursday morning, according to KXAN.
A DPS spokesman said the man was lying in the road for unknown reasons in the area of West 13th Street and Colorado Street near the State Capitol building. The trooper was patrolling streets in the vicinity when he hit the pedestrian at about 3:45 a.m.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics attempted life-saving measures.
The accident remains under investigation by the DPS and the crash team for the Capitol region.
