AUSTIN, TX – Paramedics were at the scene of a deadly crash on the West U.S. 290 Highway service road in south Austin on Wednesday afternoon.
KXAN reports two vehicles were involved in the accident near the South Lamar Boulevard exit at about 4:15 p.m. One of the vehicles caught fire, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
One adult was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other patients were involved in the crash, but they were not seriously injured.
The Texas Department of Transportation shut down the eastbound frontage road of Highway 290 east of Brodie Lane, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
