AUSTIN, TX – Medics transported an Austin woman to the hospital after a vehicle hit her at a busy North Austin intersection early Saturday morning, reports KXAN.

Police say the incident occurred at 2:56 a.m. at the intersection of Burnet Road and Esperanza Crossing, just east of the Domain.

It is unclear how the accident happened, but authorities say the woman was walking in the intersection when the collision occurred. She sustained serious injuries, but doctors expect her to survive.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with law enforcement.

Police have not publicly identified the parties involved in the wreck. The crash remains under investigation.
