AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian died, and a driver was hospitalized after a single-vehicle collision on the interstate in Austin on Monday morning, reports KXAN Austin.
Police say the incident happened around 8:46 a.m. on the southbound frontage road of I-35, between East William Cannon Drive and East Stassney Lane.
The circumstances of the accident are unclear, but authorities say a vehicle overturned and struck a pedestrian on the service road. The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
The driver of the vehicle became entrapped and had to be extricated by response crews. Medics then transported this person to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center on a trauma alert.
