AUSTIN, TX – One person died after entering the pathway of a Capital Metro passenger train in North Austin on Wednesday afternoon, reports KVUE.
Officials say the incident happened around 2:40 p.m. on the northbound frontage road of Research Boulevard near Burnet Road.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the pedestrian entered the path of the train even though the safety gates had been lowered. Medics performed CPR at the scene, but the victim died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
