AUSTIN, TX – A crash involving three vehicles on the interstate in downtown Austin killed two adults and injured two others on Tuesday morning, reports KVUE.
Police say the incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 35 near Cesar Chavez Street.
Authorities have not yet explained how the crash happened but say it involved a large truck and two other vehicles. Rescue crews worked to extricate the truck driver, who had become entrapped in the vehicle. Crews also identified another person stuck in a smaller vehicle that had travelled underneath the truck.
The occupant of the vehicle pinned beneath the truck died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the truck driver to the hospital with serious injuries.
One other person died in the collision, and a fourth person was hospitalized with injuries sustained in the crash.
A full investigation regarding the circumstances of the crash is underway.
