AUSTIN, TX – A male pedestrian in a wheelchair suffered critical injuries when a teen driver struck him in a North Austin parking lot on Saturday, reports Fox 7 Austin.
Police say the incident happened around 9:58 a.m. in the parking lot for a seafood restaurant and a market at 9200 North Lamar Boulevard.
The investigation thus far indicates that a speeding vehicle collided with a man as he crossed the parking lot in his electric wheelchair. The vehicle then left the scene of the collision.
Medics transported the pedestrian to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities located and arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the incident. The teen faces several charges, including failure to stop and render aid, unlawful possession of a weapon, and injury to a disabled person.
