MILAM CO., TX – Three men died Thursday afternoon when a police chase ended with a fiery crash along a highway northwest of Austin, reports KXAN.
The incident happened around 3:49 p.m. on US-190 just south of County Road 337, which is near Milano.
The investigation indicates that the driver of a 2015 Dodge Challenger attempted to pass a car on the southbound side of US-190 while evading police. He then lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway, driving through a fence and colliding with a tree. The Dodge overturned and ignited.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Phabian Jyquez Bynaum, died at the scene of the accident.
Two passengers also died at the scene. Authorities identified them as 21-year-old Malik Ezekiel Thomas and 20-year-old Davarius Travon Hoelscher.
It is still unclear why police where pursuing the Challenger. A full investigation is underway.
