AUSTIN, TX – One person was killed and another was severely injured in a collision on Interstate 35 in north Austin Wednesday morning, police said.
According to CBS Austin, a pickup truck slammed into a semi-truck on I-35 north near 51st Street at about 2:45 a.m. The pickup went underneath the semi-truck, with two people in the pickup pinned inside the vehicle.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center.
I-35 was shut down for about six hours as the wreckage was being cleared, causing extensive traffic delays on the freeway during the morning commute.
