AUSTIN, TX – One person has died following a pedestrian collision Thursday morning, August 8, in west Austin’s Tarrytown neighborhood that left another person seriously injured, reports KVUE.
The accident occurred in the 2500 block of Hillview Road, about a block from the Austin Public Library’s Howson branch. Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) personnel and Austin Fire Department crews responded to the scene shortly after 9:00 a.m.
While officials have not been able to share a sequence of events leading up to the crash, preliminary details indicate the two victims were pedestrians who were struck by a vehicle. Both patients were declared trauma alerts, and despite life-saving measures administered at the scene, one of the patients was pronounced deceased Thursday morning. The other patient was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries believed to be serious.
No information regarding potential charges or citations has been reported, but the driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with investigators.
