AUSTIN, TX – An Austin Police officer sustained injuries Tuesday when a pursuit culminated in a crash in northwest Austin.
According to KXAN, the accident happened on the northbound side of the service road for Mopac near the intersection with North Capital of Texas Highway.
Police say they pursued a vehicle after receiving reports of property damage to an apartment gate on Jollyville Road.
The suspects’ vehicle entered the wrong side of the Mopac service road, ultimately colliding with the APD police cruiser.
The two occupants of the suspects’ vehicle fled the scene on foot. Authorities located and arrested one of them.
Medics transported an officer from the APD cruiser to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
