AUSTIN, TX — An 18-wheeler crashed into multiple power poles Friday afternoon, impacting about 3,600 Austin Energy customers in East Austin, according to FOX 7 Austin.
The accident happened at the intersection of Bedford Street and Webberville Road, near Austin Community College Eastview Campus. It was first reported by Austin Fire Department shortly after noon.
Firefighters, Austin-Travis County EMS, and Austin Energy crews all responded to the scene.
Energy crews quickly worked to restore power to the majority of customers in the area, but by 12:30 p.m., around 150 customers still remained without power.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver of the truck sustained any injuries in the crash.
