AUSTIN, TX – Two adults died Sunday in a crash involving three vehicles along a highway near Lake Walter E. Long, reports KVUE.
Police say the incident happened just before 1 p.m. on the northbound side of SH-130 north of FM 969. This is an area just west of Decker Creek Estates and east of Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park and the Decker Tallgrass Prairie Preserve.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a southbound black Chevrolet Suburban veered over the median of SH-130 and collided with a northbound Ford pickup truck. These initial two vehicles then crashed with a Chevrolet Malibu.
Two adults from the Suburban and the Ford pickup became entrapped in their vehicles and died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Malibu did not sustain injuries in the crash, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
Police are not yet sure what caused the Suburban to cross into oncoming traffic. The incident remains under investigation with law-enforcement.
