KYLE, TX – A Tuesday night collision between an 18-wheeler and a vehicle closed the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 in east Hays County, reports CBS Austin.
Police say the incident happened just before 7 p.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near mile marker 213, which is just southwest of FM 1626 in Kyle.
Authorities have not explained how the accident happened but have reported at least one serious injury.
Additionally, they say the semi-truck was carrying sugar and that the impact of the crash ruptured the truck’s diesel tanks.
Officials re-opened the southbound lanes of I-35 on Tuesday night, but the northbound lanes remained closed until around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A full investigation of the incident is underway.
