AUSTIN, TX – A man died, and four other people sustained serious injuries in a wrong-way collision along the highway in southeast Austin.
According to CBS Austin, the incident happened at 4:09 p.m. near the intersection of South US-183 and Maha Loop Road, which is south of Pilot Knob and north of Mustang Ridge.
The investigation thus far indicates that a southbound vehicle entered the northbound lane and collided with a northbound vehicle. The wrong-way driver died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.
Medics transported the other driver with serious injuries to a hospital in south Austin. Three other occupants, including two teens and one child, went to Dell Seton with critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
