AUSTIN, TX – A 4-year-old girl died last Friday from injuries sustained earlier this month in a crash involving an APD cruiser.
According to KVUE and the City of Austin the accident happened on Monday, March 10th, just before 10 p.m. on North Lamar Boulevard north of Payton Gin Road. This is near the Aubry Hills Apartments in north-central Austin.
The investigation indicates that a vehicle pulled from a private drive into the path of an APD cruiser. The police vehicle was headed to the scene of an incident when the collision occurred. A third vehicle also became involved.
Medics transported an adult and a child from one of the vehicles to an area hospital. The child died four days later.
The police officer involved in the accident sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.
The investigation is ongoing.
