NAVASOTA, TX – A 53-year-old man died Monday in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi on TX-105 in southwest Grimes County.
According to KXAN, the incident happened around 9:02 a.m. near the intersection with County Road 417, which is just northwest of McDonald Cemetery.
Police say that the victim was headed westbound on TX-105 in a 2016 Nissan Rouge when he veered onto the eastbound side of the highway and crashed head-on with an 18-wheeler. Immediately after, a westbound 2024 Hyundai Palisade struck the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Texas A&M University professor Qinglei Li, died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the other two drivers to a local hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
