AUSTIN, TX – Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted that it was on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that left four people injured on Tuesday.
The accident occurred in the area of State Highway 71 and Thomas Springs Road in southwest Austin shortly before 2 p.m. When rescue crews arrived, they had to extricate one person from one of the vehicles.
One adult suffered injuries described as serious and potentially life-threatening. That victim was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Another adult and a child were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. A fourth person refused to be transported.
Authorities said the crash damaged a hydrant and brought wires down into the roadway. Motorists were advised to expect delays and closures, and to avoid the area.
