AUSTIN, TX – A 42-year-old woman died Sunday when a vehicle struck her along a major roadway in south-central Austin, reports KVUE.
Emergency teams responded to the eastbound service road of West Ben White Boulevard near South First Street. This is just east of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
Police say the victim, identified as Angela Cantu, was walking along the service road when a car hit her and left the scene. It’s unclear if Cantu was utilizing a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Medics transported Cantu to an area hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities haven’t yet released any details about the driver or vehicle involved in the accident. They ask anyone with information or tips to contact the Austin Police Department.
