AUSTIN, TX – Police arrested a driver on DUI charges after her car struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday in the Crestview neighborhood of north Austin, reports KXAN.

Police say the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on the northbound side of North Lamar Boulevard, just south of Morrow Street.

The investigation thus far suggests that a man was walking in the middle of North Lamar Boulevard when a vehicle hit him. First responders attempted CPR, but the pedestrian died at the scene.

Authorities say that the driver of the vehicle contacted police about the accident and cooperated at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
