AUSTIN, TX – One person died Friday afternoon in east Austin when a bicycle and a vehicle collided along the highway, reports KVUE.

The incident occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on US-183 southbound before Highway 290, which is near Tesla and the Travis County Tax Office.

It’s not yet clear what caused the accident, but police say that one person died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.

Officials asked drivers to avoid this portion of US-183 while crews worked to clear the scene.
