FORT CAVAZOS, TX – A woman sustained fatal injuries Saturday night when a train struck her in northwestern Bell County, reports KXXV 25.
The accident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on the railroad tracks just north of Business Highway 190 and Venable Drive in Fort Cavazos. This is just west of Killeen and about an hour north of Austin.
Police say that an eastbound train associated with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNFS) hit a pedestrian near the tracks.
The woman died after transport to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not yet released her name to the public.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
