AUSTIN, TX – One person died Wednesday night at a busy East Austin intersection after a vehicle struck them, reports KVUE.
The accident happened around 9:32 p.m. at East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Springdale Road, which is just east of Morris Williams Golf Course.
Police haven’t yet shared any details regarding the circumstances of the crash. It’s unclear if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street and, if so, if they were using a designated crosswalk. It’s also unclear if the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene to render aid and speak with officials.
Medics attempted to resuscitate the patient but were unsuccessful, and they died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity to the public.
Officials urged drivers to avoid the area and to expect delays.
