AUSTIN, TX – One person died early Sunday when a vehicle struck them on the interstate near downtown Austin, reports Fox 7 Austin.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-35 southbound between East 3rd Street and East 4th Street, which is just northeast of Sir Swante Palm Neighborhood Park.

The pedestrian died at the scene after EMS officials performed CPR. Authorities have not yet disclosed the name of the deceased.

It’s not yet clear what caused the accident, nor do we know if the vehicle involved remained at the scene to render aid and to speak with police.
