AUSTIN, TX — Crews were called to a vehicle rescue Wednesday morning after a multi-car crash on North U.S. Highway 183 in northwest Austin, reports CBS Austin.

The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of the highway near Lake Creek Parkway and Research Boulevard at about 8:34 a.m.

By 9:30 a.m., the far right lane was closed to traffic as Austin-Travis County EMS medics assisted possible victims.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of people injured, or the extent of their injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the crash was underway as of Wednesday morning.
