TRAVIS COUNTY, TX – One person died in a collision on US-183 in southeast Travis County Tuesday morning.

According to KXAN, the crash happened south of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on the 9100 block of the highway, near FM 973. A driver in a car was slowing on Highway 183 when a truck driver towing a trailer hit them from behind.

The car that was struck veered into oncoming traffic and caught fire. The truck and trailer crashed into a church building nearby.

The crash killed one person and another was seriously injured and declared a trauma alert patient. No one in the church building was injured.

The trauma alert patient was rushed to St. David’s South Medical Center in Austin.
