AUSTIN, TX – One person died Tuesday evening after crashing their vehicle into the emergency room at a North Austin hospital, reports the Associated Press.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which is located off of North Mopac Expressway just south of Parmer Lane.
The investigation indicates that a silver sedan crashed into the lobby of the ER, injuring five people, including one child.
The driver of the vehicle died at the scene when CPR efforts were unsuccessful. Authorities have not yet released their identity.
Officials say that of the five victims, one adult and one child sustained critical injuries.
Austin Police say the crash was likely accidental.
The investigation is ongoing.
