AUSTIN, TX – One person died on Friday after fleeing police and crashing their vehicle into a train in downtown Austin, reports KXAN.
The incident happened around 2:36 a.m. in the area of East 7th Street and Northwestern Avenue, which is just west of Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park.
The investigation indicates that the victim fled from police when they attempted to stop the vehicle for suspected drunk driving. The chase began at the intersection of East Seventh and Neches Street and ended when the driver crashed into the train.
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital, where they died from injuries sustained in the wreck.
