AUSTIN, TX – The driver of an 18-wheeler went to the hospital after his truck crashed along the interstate in South Austin early Tuesday morning, reports KXAN.
Police say the incident happened around 1:15 a.m. on the southbound side of I-35 near FM-1327, which is just a few miles north of Buda.
The preliminary report indicates that a southbound 18-wheeler carrying refrigerated goods crashed into a median as it approached FM-1327. The collision caused the semi-truck to catch fire.
Medics transported the truck driver to the hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The incident caused lane closures on both sides of the interstate for more than 10 hours following the crash. By 1:30 p.m., all lanes were reopened on both sides of the interstate.
