AUSTIN, TX – One person went to the hospital with critical injuries on Thursday after a single-vehicle crash on North Mopac, reports KXAN.

The accident happened around 1:50 a.m. on the southbound side of North Mopac Expressway, just north of Highway 183 and south of the Domain.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. A witness claims to have seen the vehicle hit a curb before overturning multiple times along the roadway.

Officials closed the southbound lanes of Mopac in the area of the accident for several hours while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene. All lanes re-opened by around 5:40 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
