HAYS COUNTY, TX – One person was killed in a collision on US Highway 290 near Dripping Springs Thursday evening.

According to KXAN, 34-year-old Danny Wilford was traveling east on Highway 290 in a Freightliner dump truck when he attempted to make a left turn on RM 165.

A driver in a Dodge 3500 pickup truck slammed into him. After impact, the dump truck rolled over, hit a pole, and was engulfed in flames. Wilford was pronounced dead at the scene.

An additional driver in a Ford F150 swerved to avoid the collision and rolled over into a ditch off the side of the roadway.

Both drivers of the Dodge and Ford were transported to St. David’s South Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
