COLLEGE STATION, TX – One person died Tuesday when they were struck by a garbage truck on the southwest side of College Station, reports the College Station Police Department.

The accident happened some time around 10:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the Lake Walk at Traditions apartment complex, which is located at 8175 Atlas Pear Drive. This is just northwest of Easterwood Airport.

Police haven’t yet shared any details about the cause of the crash. They say it involved a City of College Station garbage truck.

Authorities identified the person killed in the crash as 50-year-old Hilaire Kallendorf.

Officials urged drivers to avoid the area while crews worked to gather evidence and clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
