AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian died Tuesday morning after a vehicle struck them along the highway near Oak Hill, reports KXAN.
The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the area of 7300 West Highway 71, which is between US-290 and Old Bee Caves Road.
Police haven’t released many details regarding the circumstances of the crash. They say the driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Authorities declared the pedestrian deceased at the scene. They’ve not yet released the victim’s name to the public.
Officials closed TX-71 in the area of the crash for just over three hours while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
