AUSTIN, TX — A man was killed late Sunday after being hit by a car on Interstate 35 near Tech Ridge Center in north Austin, reports KXAN.

Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the scene on the southbound lanes of North I-35 near Parmer Lane shortly after 11:00 p.m.

Few details have been released at this time, but witnesses told police someone was walking on the main lanes of the interstate moments before the crash.

The pedestrian died from his injuries, confirmed authorities.

The involved driver remained at the scene.

All southbound lanes were closed to traffic as an investigation was conducted.
