AUSTIN, TX – One person died Wednesday after a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle near Austin Bergstrom International Airport.
According to KVUE, the incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. on the eastbound side of TX-71, just east of TX-183, near the northwest end of the airport.
The cause of the crash is still under review. Police say that the motorcyclist died at the scene, but they’ve not yet released the victim’s identity to the public.
It’s still unclear whether the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to render aid and speak with authorities.
Officials closed the eastbound side of TX-71 in the area of the crash for several hours during clean-up, which caused significant delays for motorists heading to the airport.
An investigation is underway.
