AUSTIN, TX – Emergency teams reported injuries Thursday following a multi-vehicle crash along the interstate in central Austin.

According to CBS Austin, the accident occurred around midnight along the northbound side of I-35 near East 51st Street, which is just south of Capital Plaza.

It’s not yet clear what caused the collision or how many vehicles were involved. 

Medics transported three people to the hospital. One of the victims sustained critical injuries.

Officials closed the northbound lanes of I-35 in the area of the crash while crews worked to attend to the victims and clear the wreckage.

A full investigation is underway.
