AUSTIN, TX – One man died and five other people were hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 35 in Austin early Saturday morning.
According to CBS Austin, police believe a driver was going south in the northbound lanes of I-35 near Barbara Jordan Boulevard when the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. That driver crashed into several other vehicles, causing multiple people to be ejected from their vehicles. One victim, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Of the five others who were injured and taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, three were reported to have sustained injuries that were life-threatening.
A stretch of I-35 was shut down for several hours in both directions near the 51st Street intersection while the wreckage was being cleared and police investigated the accident.
