AUSTIN, TX – One man died when his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler on the interstate in North Austin early Friday morning, reports CBS Austin.

Police say the incident happened around 5 a.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 35 near Wells Branch Parkway.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a vehicle sped into the rear of a tractor-trailer and became pinned beneath the truck.

The victim died at the scene of the accident. It is unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the collision.

Officials closed the northbound side of I-35 at FM 1825 and detoured traffic to Exit 247.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim. A full investigation is underway.
