AUSTIN, TX — One person was hospitalized Monday night after a car dropped 100 feet from a U.S. Highway 183 overpass in north Austin, reports CBS Austin.
Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Fire crews responded to the scene in the 13800 block of North US-183 near North Farm to Market Road 620 at around 8:50 p.m.
It is unclear what led up to the incident, but the involved driver was pinned inside their vehicle, requiring crews to perform a rescue extrication.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.
Several lanes of US-183 near Texas Highway 45 were shut down in both directions near the Anderson Mill area.
Motorists were advised to take alternate routes to avoid long delays.
