TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — One person died Friday morning after a collision involving a Leander ISD bus and another vehicle in Jonestown, reports KXAN.
Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene in the 18300 block of Ranch Road 1431 shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Austin-Travis County EMS said one person had to be extricated from a car and was transported by airlift to a nearby hospital. They later died from their injuries.
The driver of the bus was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a red car was going east on RR 1431 when, for unknown reasons, it collided with the westbound bus.
Leander Independent School District said the bus was en route to pick up students from Cedar Park Middle and High schools when the crash occurred. No students were on the bus at the time.
