AUSTIN, TX — A pedestrian died early Friday after being hit by a train near the Hollow at Slaughter Creek area in south Austin, according to CBS Austin.
Authorities say the fatal crash happened near Slaughter Creek Drive and Meadowsouth Lane at approximately 12:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the person was either walking near the railroad tracks or trying to cross the tracks when they were struck by an approaching train.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics confirmed the pedestrian died at the scene.
An investigation is in progress as Austin police seek information on the pedestrian and why they were traveling in the area.
