AUSTIN, TX – Police say a driver left the scene after a crash in Southeast Austin that left a pedestrian seriously injured.
CBS Austin reports the incident happened in the area of South U.S. Highway 183 and Burleson Road shortly before midnight on Friday.
The Austin Police Department said the 40-year-old pedestrian was trying to walk across the northbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by a vehicle. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived at the scene and transported the man to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 183 while they investigated the incident. No information was immediately released about the driver or the vehicle being sought.
